COMPARISON OF ISLAM AND CHRISTIANITY

Doctrine Islam teaches... Christianity teaches...
God Transcendent, impersonal, unknowable, judgmental, Quran never mentions God's love for mankind. God is personal, knowable, and loving.
Jesus Christ One of many prophets of "Allah."  The prophet Muhammad supercedes Jesus and he is not the son of God or any part of a Trinity.  Jesus did not atone for anyone else's sins, even though He was Himself sinless.  He did not die on the cross, and was not resurrected.  Most Muslims believe that He was taken to Heaven before death. Jesus is God and the second Person in the Trinity (Colossians 2:19).  There is not salvation in any other (Acts 4:12).  Jesus' death is well attributed by history as well as by eyewitness accounts.  His resurrection is also proved by eyewitnesses and changed lives.
Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit is actually the angel Gabriel. The Holy Spirit is God
(Acts 5:4, Matthew 28:19-20)
Trinity God is one; complete denial of the Trinity The Trinity is one God expressed in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
Sin All have sinned and each must atone for their sin through their works. All have sinned in Adam and continue to sin (Romans 3:10, 3:23, 5:12)
Salvation Salvation is by works. Every Muslim must fulfill the works of the five pillars of the faith. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5) on the basis of Christ's satisfaction of God's wrath in our place.
Authority The Quran and the interpretations of the Caliphs. Even portions of the Quran are able to be annulled and repealed. The Word of God is the divine revelation from God and it stands forever. (Matthew 5:17, Isaiah 40:7)
Another important difference to consider is this...  Environments which are true, Biblical expressions of Christianity welcome seekers who have questions about God, the validity of the Bible, the claims of Jesus Christ and lovingly attempt to provide answers to such questions.  However, in Islam, questions concerning the credentials of Muhammad, the validity of the Quran, etc. are discouraged, and in many cases, punished.
